Oops, never posted a final clean shot of this mini mural for Morgantown, WV. I donβt always release statements about a work (or title them π) but I was asked to sit down and write a little something:

βTrusting The Mysteryβ
I always find inspiration from the sea and nature. The very essence of our humanness is tied to our connections and cycles within the natural world. In the mural, Trusting The Mystery, the artwork is encased in a perfect circle to signify wholeness and continuous cycles. Branching out from the circle is a rainbow that transforms into abstracted local West Virginia wildflowers.
Symbolically, the fierce sea water depicts the turbulence in our lives and brings forth the question, how do we swim? Rainbows, pink, and purple clouds create the kind of dreamlike beauty that flood you with euphoria. The idea of a pink cloud is meant to represent the changes in your life that can bring you to a place where the struggle is nonexistent, and everything is a little too good to be true. Pink smoke suggests acknowledgement of a higher power, self-renewal, and coming out the other side.
The owl, one of the most mystical creatures, said to bring good omens, free us from things that hold us back, encourage change, growth, transformation, and intuitive development. Owls make regular appearances in my artwork, as I love their symbolism and the magical narrative they bring.
Trusting The Mystery is the spirit inside ourselves that call us to follow the path of our own colors and our own lives to come to a metaphoric field of flowers.

No, I didnβt paint this on the floor of my hotel room the morning of my install π¬ ...
Wasnβt sure how I was going to install a single 10β panel alone with a ladder on a down sloped street (after driving 5 hours) β¦ but I knew I could, and I did π Next time I will pull the Mariah Carey diva card, or at least take a break between driving and climbing ladders. ...
